Traffic citations follow the court named on the ticket. Some are payable through the official county traffic page if no mandatory court appearance or unresolved issue applies. Divorce and felony cases generally use Superior Court. Estate administration uses Probate Court. Small claims and evictions use Magistrate Court. A missed traffic or court date can create bench-warrant or failure-to-appear issues, which should be checked with the court connected to the notice.

Superior Court Case Types

Ogeechee Judicial Circuit

Screven County is part of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit with Bulloch, Effingham, and Jenkins counties. Circuitwide services can affect a local case even when the file sits in Screven County. Robert Busbee died suddenly. Older sources naming different district attorney leadership should be treated as dated unless updated by an official circuit or county directory.

Municipal courts in Screven County municipalities may handle city ordinance and traffic matters, so a citation issued inside Sylvania, Hiltonia, Oliver, Newington, or Rocky Ford should be checked against the court named on the ticket.

Screven Specialty Courts

Ogeechee Circuit Mental Health Court and Drug Court serve Screven County along with Bulloch, Effingham, and Jenkins. The program page states both courts are under the direction of Judge Michael T. Muldrew and operate with partners that include the District Attorney, Public Defender, Probation, Sheriff's Office, and treatment providers. Mental Health Court began in Bulloch County in September 2013, and Mental Health Court and Drug Court expanded circuitwide in July 2018.

Mental Health Court eligibility includes an Axis I diagnosis, adult age, a pending criminal charge under Ogeechee Circuit jurisdiction, willingness to participate for at least 24 months, possible probation-revocation eligibility, and residence in Bulloch, Effingham, Screven, or Jenkins County. Drug Court eligibility focuses on drug or alcohol addiction, adult age, a pending felony criminal charge under Ogeechee Circuit jurisdiction, willingness to participate for at least 24 months, possible probation-revocation eligibility, and residence in the circuit.
